DGR Thoroughbred’s spring statistics make for compelling reading, with Duncan Ramage able to lay claim to 15 individual Group 1 spring features, an enviable number, with too many elite placegetters and Group performers above and beyond that to list here.
We’re talking…
4 x G1 Flight Stakes
3 x G1 Cox Plates
2 x G1 Melbourne Cups
2 x G1 Caulfield Guineas
Plus a G1 Caulfield Cup, G1 Caulfield Stakes, G1 Toorak Handicap and a G1 Thousand Guineas.
Names like So You Think, First Seal and Norzita headline DGR’s spring honour roll, all renowned performers bearing the DGR stamp of approval.
But as we approach 2024’s spring carnivals, the DGR name is attached to a number of hopefuls, all seeking black type glory so let’s turn our attention to the next wave of champions.
GROUP 1 GLORY
POWERS OF OPAL is the current equal favourite at time of writing for the G1 VRC Oaks with her next appearance scheduled for either the G1 Flight Stakes (a race claimed by DGR Thoroughbred purchases 4 times already) or the G2 Edward Manifold on 5 October 2024. A 2023 purchase by DGR Thoroughbreds, she is trained by John Sargent.

CLEAR PROOF is another one seeking Group 1 glory. Already stakes placed this campaign his connections are considering a run in the G1 Golden Rose on 28 September 2024.
ONES TO WATCH
ALL WOKE is set to run in the Listed Gothic Stakes on Caulfield Cup Day. With a stakes placing already under her belt, this 3YO filly has further black type in her sights.
THE DEAL was an interesting debut winner on 14 September 2024. Check out the Dundeel gelding in action and consider putting him on your list.
GLAD YOU THINK SO is a Group 1 placegetter after his 3rd placing in the 2024 ATC Australian Derby behind the late Riff Rocket and Ceolwulf. With a trial date of 24 September 2024, we’re excited to see how he resumes this Spring.
PERFECT THOUGHT, a Group 3 winner and Group 2 placegetter, heads back soon after some extensive rehab and with trainer John Sargent quoted as saying “Any horse that wins the Carbine is an exciting horse”, a return to form is expected here.
