It was great to get up to the Hunter Valley over the weekend where I attended parades at Kia Ora, Newgate, Coolmore, and Widden. The standard of presentation and the oratory was of such a high standard, but one we now come to expect from these parades.

All the accolades must go to the people who made the presentations. As always, the hospitality at Kia Ora, Widden, and Coolmore stood out from the pack.

A highlight of the weekend was introducing our former DGR-purchased and managed Champion, So You Think, to the Ambassador of Ireland, Tim Mawe, and the Federal Member for Hunter, Dan Repacholi. They were quick to join the ranks of So You Think’s admirers.

Of course, So You Think is no stranger to accolades in the ambassador’s homeland, having been crowned Ireland’s Champion Older Horse after claiming three Group 1 victories. Notably, he is the only Southern Hemisphere-bred horse to win five Group 1 races in the Northern Hemisphere, surpassing legends like Phar Lap, the late Black Caviar, Strawberry Road, and Choisir.

So You Think’s extraordinary success has certainly extended well beyond his record-breaking race career, with the Coolmore stallion poised to emulate his Champion Sire High Chaparral’s outstanding achievements. He has been among the top two or three stallions on Australia’s General Sires list for three consecutive seasons and has 11 individual Group 1 winners and 57 stakes winners to his credit, with large foal crops coming through.

We’re thoroughly looking forward to our own Gr.1 Australian Derby placegetter, Glad You Think So, resuming in the spring as a 4-year-old after two operations at the culmination of his 3-year-old career. He is set to barrier trial at Randwick on the 9th of September.

Do not be surprised if one of this year’s five DGR-purchased So You Think yearlings racing in our colours is at the early 2-year-old trials. He is looking pretty sharp.

We also have great aspirations for 3-year-old filly All Woke, a product of one of So You Think’s daughters, despite a modest return to racing last week. The stakes-placed 2-year-old will bounce back into black-type racing in the spring, while another 2024 yearling purchase from a first-crop son of So You Think is looking equally as sharp.

One of the attributes that makes So You Think such a great sire is the diversity in his stock and his unique ability to sire top horses through the ages. From stakes-winning 2-year-olds and classic feature winners to blistering sprinters and stayers, he has proven his ability to produce dominant performers time and time again.

We have a select number of 2-year-olds with ownership opportunities available, including the outstanding So You Think colt from the stakes performed mare Valley Sweetheart with Chris Anderson.
