Purchased for $200,000 from Little Avondale Stud’s 2024 Inglis Easter draft, this filly is by exceptional Group 1 sire Per Incanto from Winter Sky (IRE), an Invincible Spirit half-sister to Transfers, the dam of Group 1 winner Tom Kitten, and stakes winners Va Via and Promotions.
This filly hails from a very deep family with current top performed Group 1-winning members such as Tom Kitten and In Italian.
Tom Kitten is back racing well and is set to have further Group 1 targets in the spring. All going to plan, across a 6 week window, we’re expecting to see some major updates to this filly’s family with Tom Kitten leading the market for the Epsom Handicap, and currently holding nominations for the King Charles and the Cox Plate too.
Per Incanto is one of New Zealand’s leading sires, commanding a fee of NZ$50,000 plus GST (2024). He boasts an excellent strike rate of 66% winners to runners and is the sire of 29 individual stakes winners, including boom Group 1-winning sprint sensation Roch ‘N’ Horse and Belclare.
Dual Group 1-winning Per Incanto mare Belclare is set to kick off her Australian campaign in Bjorn Baker’s Sydney stable this season. The 11-time winner scored back-to-back G1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes victories and is on the hunt for Australian black type this spring. We have high hopes that this filly will emulate her success at the highest level.
The filly is currently receiving top-tier care at Hannover Lodge with Hinnerk Hueppe and is ready to commence her racing career under the tutelage of esteemed Group 1 fillies trainer John Sargent.
Hannover Lodge has stellar reputation for producing well educated, sound thoroughbred athletes for successful racing careers and Hueppe speaks highly of this filly.
“This filly is very forward and sharp, just like you’d expect from the breed. I’m also very pleased to report that she’s presenting herself intelligently with a good brain throughout the educational process which is very important when they also have that sharpness about them,” Hueppe commented.
DGR Thoroughbreds and John Sargent have long proved themselves a successful duo with Duncan Ramage’s 2023 yearling purchase, Powers of Opal, enjoying the dual favourite spot for the G1 VRC Oaks.
The filly herself possesses great athleticism, which is a critical factor in a running animal and Duncan Ramage, upon visiting her last week, is full of positivity about her future.
“I visited this filly just last week at her pre-training facility and was very pleasantly surprised at how she’s developed,” said Ramage.
“She was always a very athletic type and to see her strengthen and improve since January is testament to her natural scope and the time and attention she’s received at Hannover Lodge.
“With the recent success of Powers of Opal and her subsequent tilt at the VRC Oaks, I think it’s showing that we’ve got a winning formula here. We’ve got good horses, good trainers, good breakers and achieve good outcomes.”
Get in touch with Duncan if you’re interested in securing an interest in this promising filly. With her early education well underway and positive comments across the board, this is a great opportunity to align yourself with DGR and top Randwick-based trainer John Sargent, whose record of training Group 1-winning fillies speaks for itself.
