Dear Readers,
After careful thought and reflection, we’re proud to announce Joe Pride as the trainer of our So You Think colt from Ruud Not Too (NZ), purchased from Coolmore Stud at this year’s Inglis Easter Sale, after the Cummings and goings of James.
While we had originally hoped to reunite the Think Big Stud colours with James Cummings, he has recently accepted an exciting opportunity to train in Hong Kong, a move too good to pass up.
With that decision made, we embraced the opportunity to explore other options and are thrilled with the outcome. Joe knows the breed all too well, having trained So You Think’s multiple Group 1-winning son, Think About It, to conquer The Everest. He currently trains Reflect, our promising two-year-old filly by So You Think, owned by several members of this colt’s syndicate. Joe’s proven success with the sire line and strong relationship with our ownership group made him a natural fit.
This $200,000 colt represents exceptional value, especially when compared to the $1.15 million So You Think yearling at the same sale. He boasts real presence, athleticism, and pedigree without the seven-figure price tag. Plus, of DGR Thoroughbred’s three Group 1 placegetters since 2023, two are by So You Think.
With interest reaching new levels since Joe’s appointment as his trainer, now is the time to get involved. Read on for details about the colt, and how you can be part of the ride, plus an update on another exciting opportunity we have for you – but likely not for long!
An impressive son of the legendary Group 1 sire So You Think, this colt is out of the Group 2-winning and stakes-producing Bernardini mare Ruud Not Too (NZ). Athletic and well-balanced, he mirrors the quality of his sire and looks every bit a top-class prospect. He is the third living foal from his six-time-winning dam, who is quickly making her mark at stud with her first foal, Cottee, now a six-time winner, including victory in the 2024 Listed Queensland Tatt’s RC Tattersall’s Mile.
The page continues to strengthen with the emergence of Lucy in the Sky, a half-sister to his dam, who made an eye-catching debut before going on to claim the Listed Champagne Stakes in New Zealand and now heads toward the G1 NZ 1000 Guineas in November.
With limited shares remaining, this is your opportunity to race a colt of serious potential with DGR and Group 1-winning trainer Joe Pride.

Renowned for his meticulous approach and ability to get the best out of his horses, Joe Pride is one of Australia’s most respected trainers. With over 1,300 career wins to his name, including 20 Group 1 victories, Joe’s record speaks for itself. Among his many highlights is the remarkable success of sprint sensation Think About It, a son of So You Think who rose to stardom under Joe’s care, winning the richest race on turf, The Everest, and multiple Group 1 races, as well as claiming an impressive 9 wins in a row including three at Group level. Joe’s proven strike rate with So You Think’s progeny makes him the ideal choice to guide this exciting colt’s career.
Eagle Farm trainer, Chris Anderson, claimed a win with DGR’s Summation (So You Think x Valley Sweetheart) over the weekend.
Summation delivered a tenacious performance to break his maiden in the Civil Scapes QTIS 2YO Maiden Handicap on Sunday, June 22. The promising two-year-old colt is another exciting result from the successful partnership between trainer Chris Anderson and DGR Thoroughbreds. With a well-executed ride and a professional display, Summation looks set to build on this win in the months ahead.
Jockey, Justin Huxtable commented, “he’s a beautiful travelling horse and gave me complete confidence right until I had to ask upon his maturity to make a run, and he did it like a horse well beyond his years. He’s going to be very exciting going forward.”
