Duncan Ramage’s Easter Yearling Sale success relates to yearlings purchased from the sale and also extends to identifying and purchasing numerous Group winning dam’s of yearlings that are catalogued in the 2021 edition.

To top it off, there will be 17 yearlings on offer by former DGR yearling purchase and now leading sire, So You Think.

Duncan’s Easter Yearling Sale purchases include Group One winning fillies Danarani, Danendri, Dashing Eagle and continued with star staying filly Dariana.

Danarani was a A$50,000 buy from the first crop by Danehill and went on to perform at the top level, winning the G1 Flight Stakes and G2 Tea Rose Stakes. Danarani sadly passed away in the infancy of her stud career, however, one of her daughters produced stakes winner Zingam.

Champion three-year-old filly Danendri, was secured for A$80,000 as a pass in from the Twin Pams draft at Inglis Easter and went on to win the G1 Australia Stakes, G1 AJC Oaks and G2 Wakeful Stakes.

Fellow Champion three-year-old filly Dashing Eagle was purchased privately in the same year as Danendri after being withdrawn from Inglis Easter and subsequently went on to win the G1 Flight Stakes, G1 One Thousand Guineas, G2 Surround Stakes and G3 Furious Stakes. Both Danendri and Dashing Eagle appear in top performing modern day pedigrees through their daughters.

Duncan purchased Group One winner Dariana from Coolmore Stud’s Inglis Easter Yearling draft for A$300,000. She provided countless thrills for her owners, notching up career-defining victories in the G1 Queensland Derby and G3 Frank Packer Plate.

Dariana also returned in her four-year-old season to place second behind fellow Thing Big Stud owned and DGR purchased stablemate So You Think in the G1 Underwood Stakes. Delivering a handsome return on investment for her connections, she was later sold for A$800,000 at the Inglis Broodmare Sale.

A standout Snitzel filly out of multiple Group One-winning Champion 3YO Filly in Australia Norzita is catalogued as Lot 455 in Arrowfield Stud’s draft.

Purchased by Duncan for NZ$200,000 at the Karaka Yearling Sale for Think Big Stud, Norzita has been an excellent producer with both foals to the races being winners, including Listed Sandown Cup winner/Melbourne Cup hopeful, Carif.

Following a successful racing career and after producing several foals for Think Big Stud, Norzita was sold through the Inglis Chairman’s Sale for a whopping A$1.7 million to Arrowfield Stud.

Another success story is DGR purchased Champion Female Sprinter in Australia, First Seal. Secured by Duncan for NZ$700,000 at Karaka in conjunction with the China Horse Club, she became the first global Group One winner for the China Horse Club.

First Seal’s first foal (a colt by Snitzel) topped the 2020 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale when selling for a cool $1.8 million to the bid of Coolmore Stud’s Tom Magnier.

Her second foal, a colt by I Am Invincible, will be offered in 2021 as Lot 307 on Account of Sledmere Stud.

Speedy G3 ATC James HB Carr Stakes winner Yattarna was another of Duncan’s yearling purchases. Secured for a modest A$90,000 from Kambula Stud’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling draft, she was sold through the Inglis Chairman’s Sale for A$600,000 and her first foal by I Am Invincible fetched A$400,000 at the 2020 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

Yattarna’s second foal, a filly by Russian Revolution will be offered by Sledmere Stud as Lot 169.

Other Group performed dams in the 2021 Easter catalogue stemming from DGR yearling purchases include Savvan (Lot 66) and Miss Gunpowder (Lot 427).

Duncan will be available to inspect yearlings in the lead up to and during the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
