Thirty years ago, Saintly etched his name into Australian racing history, delivering legendary trainer Bart Cummings his tenth Melbourne Cup victory.

Purchased as a tried horse for $120,000 by DGR’s Duncan Ramage on behalf of Dato Tan Chin Nam following his maiden victory in 1995, Saintly would go on to become one of the greats of the Australian turf.

His remarkable 1996 campaign included victories in the Australian Cup, Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup, culminating in Australian Horse of the Year honours for the 1996–97 season.

Affectionately known as Bart’s ‘Horse from Heaven’, Saintly remains one of the most celebrated horses in DGR’s history.
