Duncan Ramage and trainer John Thompson combined on day two of Inglis Classic to purchase a son of G1 winning two and three-year-old Prized Icon, from the multiple Stakes performed General Nediym mare, Agueda (Lot 364).
Bought for $145,000 from Newgate Farm, this colt is from the first crop of yearlings by Prized Icon. An exceptional racehorse through the ages, Prized Icon won the G1 ATC Champagne Stakes as a two-year-old before returning at three to win the G1 VRC Derby.
He also collected G1 placings in the G1 VRC Australian Guineas, G1 Spring Champion Stakes, G1 Chipping Norton Stakes, G1 Ranvet Stakes, G1 Mackinnon Stakes and concluded his career with over $2 million in prize money.
This colt’s dam Agueda was a precocious juvenile, winning one and placing in the G3 ATC Kindergarten Stakes, G3 Sweet Embrace Stakes, Listed Widden Stakes and Listed Keith Mackay Handicap.
In the spring of her three-year-old season, she returned to win at Rosehill and also notched up numerous other Stakes placings.
She has been an excellent producer and is the dam of four foals to race, all of which are winners, including recent two-year-old winner Good Girl plus sprint winners Enseguida, Chiranjeev and Heat.
Much like his sire, this colt is an exceptional individual with a beautiful action and all the makings of a successful racehorse.
Ownership opportunities are available to race him with DGR and John Thompson, please get in touch with Duncan for more information.
Duncan's Comments
“Having witnessed Prized Icon's development as a racehorse under James Cummings, I was aware of the sire's qualities. In addition to that, this colt is from a multiple Stakes performing General Nediym mare who has a smart 2yo in "Good Girl" and is an easy moving horse who will flourish further as he develops.”
