Championships Day 1 - DGR Thoroughbred Services

Championships Day 1

Day 1

Last weekend’s Day 1 of The Championships at Randwick saw DGR represented by four horses purchased as yearlings and a further purchase running in the time honoured Listed Dequetteville Stakes at Morphettville.

DGR’s result card read rather creditably considering the worldwide competition on the day:-

  • 4th Gr.3 Kindergarten with 2yo filly Extreme Diva (by Extreme Choice)
  • 4th Gr.2 Chairman’s Handicap with 4yo mare So Dazzling (by So You Think)
  • 3rd Listed Dequetteville Stakes with 2yo filly All Woke (by All Too Hard)
  • 3rd Gr.1 Australian Derby with 3yo colt Glad You Think So (by So You Think)
  • Unplaced 8th Gr.3 PJ Bell with 3yo filly Unique Ambition (by Tavistock)

Both So Dazzling and Glad You Think So will press on with next start Group 1 engagements. The 2yo fillies Extreme Diva and All Woke will head to the paddock for well deserved breaks before stakes campaigns as 3yo fillies and Unique Ambition will race again soon in stakes company we understand.

We could make arguments that Extreme Diva could already be a Group winner in her brief five start career at two with some luck in running but she has raced against the best colts and fillies of her generation with extreme credibility.

On Day 1 of the two day Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, we struck in conjunction with Extreme Diva’s trainer Anthony Cummings to buy another filly by her sire Extreme Choice in Lot 85 for $320,000 from Newgate Farm, the nursery that reared this year’s Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot among many others.

Extreme Choice is a sire that needs little introduction. He is Australia’s highest-priced stallion at stud but through infertility issues he is leaving very rare commodities. This filly’s dam is a multiple Group-winning mare from the USA who has already left a 2yo stakes performer by a much lessor sire than Extreme Choice.

She is a very athletic filly who will continue to bloom and flourish as she matures with a pedigree page that has all you need for top-line success at we believe good buying for the package.

Only 15% remains in this filly, click here for more information.

Best wishes,
