An athletic colt by proven Group One sire So You Think out of the sprint winning Exceed and Excel mare Perfectly Safe. Purchased for A$120,000 from Tyreel’s Magic Millions Yearling draft.
Trained by John Sargent, Randwick
For DGR’s Duncan Ramage, this colt ticked all the boxes. He’s by a proven Group One sire, out of an Exceed and Excel mare and is built like an absolute athlete.
His legendary sire So You Think is the sire of six individual Group One winners and 44 stakes winners. His best performed progeny include G1 Surround Stakes winner Nakeeta Jane, G1 Australian Derby winner Quick Thinker, G1 Rosehill Guineas winner D’Argento, G1 NZ 1000 Guineas winner La Bella Diosa, G1 SAJC Oaks winner Sopressa and G1 Randwick Guineas winner Inference.
Purchased for a similar price tag as his own 10-time Group One-winning sire (DGR purchased So You Think for $110,000 as a yearling), this colt represented excellent value in the competitive Magic’s market.
He is the second foal out of the young sprint winning Exceed and Excel mare, Perfectly Safe. She was a winner at two and recorded wins in Australia between 1200 and 1300 metres.
This colt simply oozes class, he is extremely athletic and the presence of speed throughout his maternal line, provides plenty of appeal.
Providing further upside is the fact that he was born and raised at one of Australia’s best nurseries in Tyreel Stud. Their recent graduates include 2020 Everest winner Classique Legend who is rated as one of the current world’s best sprinters.
This colt will be trained by top Sydney trainer John Sargent at Royal Randwick. Already confirmed in the ownership along with Think Big Stud is prominent owner Matthew Sandblom who has enjoyed great success with John through the feats of Encountabull and Readily Availabull.
This horse is now fully subscribed.
Duncan's Comments
“Another superb value So You Think colt heading to one of our regular trainers John Sargent. Partnering with leading owner Matthew Sandblom for whom Sargent trains Encountabull and Readily Availabull for, this hugely athletic colt is out of an Exceed and Excel mare and comes off another of Australia’s best nurseries in Tyreel Stud.”
