The Smart Missile Factor
Duncan Ramage and Eagle Farm-based trainer Chris Anderson combined at the Inglis HTBA May Yearling Sale to secure an athletic colt by proven sire Smart Missile from the sprint-winning Bernardini mare, Admission.
DGR’s Duncan Ramage and top Eagle Farm-based trainer Chris Anderson have combined again to purchase a son of ultra-consistent speed sire, Smart Missile.
Trained by Chris Anderson, Eagle Farm
Offered as Lot 31 and purchased for $55,000 from Hopetoun Farm’s draft, this colt is out of the sprint-winning Pins mare, Faker.
She is a sister to Listed SAJC Durbridge Stakes (1100m) winner Bella Valentina and a three-quarter sister to Listed ARC Trevor Eagle Memorial Stakes placegetter, Ambitious Unicorn.
Pins has been an exceptional broodmare sire with his daughters producing multiple G1 winner Probabeel, Stratum Star, Savvy Coup, Tiptronic, Savy Yong Blonk, Brambles, D B Pin and Group winning 2YO Prague.
This colt is a half-brother to two winners, including G3 Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes placegetter Merlini and Australian sprint winner Carmen Sandiego.
His sire Smart Missile has firmly established himself as one of Australia’s leading sires. He is consistently in the top 10 by winners and his winners/runners strike rate sits at an impressive 70%.
His top progeny include G1 winner Maid Of Heaven, Smart Melody, I’ll Have a bit, Crosshaven, Missile Mantra and DGR purchased/Chris Anderson trained 8-time winner, and G3 Rough Habit Plate winner, Ballistic Boy.
This colt represented immense value in the sale and has an enormous amount of upside. He’s a physical athlete from a proven family and is an August foal which will aid in his early progression through the DGR system.
Ownership opportunities are available to race this colt with the winning DGR and Chris Anderson team, who have already found success with G3 Rough Habit Plate winner Ballistic Boy (Smart Missile).
This colt is fully subscribed.
“This colt is highly reminiscent of our Smart Missile horse, Ballistic Boy, whom Chris Anderson and I purchased at this very sale. He cost less than Chris's stable star and could be back at the Coast in no time to race for the Magic Millions riches just like $600k earner and $1 million Magic Millions Cup contender, Ballistic Boy.”
