The Karaka Yearling Sale has proven to be a happy hunting ground for DGR’s Duncan Ramage, having identified and secured turf heroes that date back to the early 1990’s from this sale.
Duncan’s former purchases include Champion G1 winners So You Think, First Seal and Norzita, and his long list features Cox Plate, Derby, Oaks and Doncaster winners (plus many more).
With the winning formula dialled in, Duncan set his sights on a daughter of leading sire So You Think and the Australian sprint-winning Exceed and Excel mare, Lagertha (Lot 367).
Bought for $380,000 from Beaufort Downs, she is the second foal out of a half-sister to Stakes winner Zarantz and Stakes performer Zonte. With plenty of black-type on the page, this is also the family of multiple Stakes winners, No Questions and French Favourite.
Outperforming some of his older rivals, So You Think has pushed his way into the top five on the General Sires premiership over the last few seasons and is Australia’s current Leading Sire in the 1600 – 2000m distance range.
So You Think’s top progeny are vast and include Group One-winning fillies La Diosa, Sopressa and Nakeeta Jane. He “nicks” with an array of dam sires, however, many of his best progeny are from daughters of Danehill or his direct sire sons, as is the case with this filly’s damsire; Champion sire, Exceed and Excel.
She is a beautiful, fluent moving filly and, as you can see by the post-sale video, handled the demands of the sale with ease.
With her 10-time Group One-winning sire purchased from this very sale ring, here is your opportunity to join the same ownership that raced her great sire.
Ownership opportunities are available to race her with DGR and Phillip Stokes. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Duncan for more information.
Duncan's Comments
“This filly met all our stringent criteria; she has a great pedigree behind her, has a lovely walk and huge stride, plus comes from an excellent south island nursery.”
