Don’t Think Too Hard
An impressive son of legendary Group 1 sire So You Think from the Group 2-winning and stakes-producing Bernardini mare, Ruud Not Too (NZ). This colt shows the same athleticism as his sire and is primed to dominate on the track.
New Zealand’s Karaka Yearling Sale has been a happy hunting ground for former DGR Champions and Duncan was delighted to secure a colt by Group 1 sire Almanzor from one of the country’s most successful nurseries.
Trained by John Thompson, Randwick.
New Zealand’s Karaka Yearling Sale has been a happy hunting ground for former DGR Champions.
Duncan was delighted to secure a colt by Group 1 sire Almanzor from one of the country’s most successful nurseries in Cambridge Stud.
Offered as Lot 400, he was purchased for $180,000 and will head to the stable of John Thompson at Randwick.
He’s an extremely athletic colt with a pedigree to boot. His sprint-winning dam Our Drahma Queen (Darci Brahma) has already produced two stakes horses, incl. two and three-year-old stakes winner Diss Is Dramatic and G3 ATC Carbine Club Stakes placegetter Cap Estel.
His dam is a half-sister to G1 MRC Futurity and G1 CF Orr Stakes winner Suavito, plus Group winner Sultan of Swing and G3 ATC Adrian Knox Stakes placegetter Chilly Cha Cha.
Almanzor has made an excellent start to his stud career. He was New Zealand’s Leading First Season sire in 2021-22 and from his first Southern Hemisphere crop, he has sired G1 VRC Derby winner Manzoice and Karaka 2YO Million winner Dynastic.
Duncan and trainer John Thompson have combined with immense success. Group 1-winning Champion Filly First Seal, multiple stakes winner Purple Sector, Magic Millions winner Primitivo and exciting 3yo Earl Of Devon are just a few examples of this partnership’s successes.
Ownership opportunities are available to race this colt with DGR and John Thompson. Get in touch with Duncan for more information.

A stunning filly from the first crop of Champion 2YO Golden Slipper winner, Stay Inside. This filly’s pedigree is elevated by her dam, Helix Park, a half-sister to stakes winner Outdo and stakes-placed Miraculous Miss. She has lovely fluidity about her, an extraordinary brain, and she looks to be of a very trainable type.
An impressive colt from the second crop of So You Think’s fast Group-winning sprinter/miler Peltzer. He is the second foal from the 4-time-winning Dash For Cash mare Miss Entice who has already produced current season 3YO stakes performer Statuario. He, too, is by a sire son of So You Think in D’Argento, so we already know this cross works and he’s a colt with plenty of size and scope.
Duncan's Comments
“A colt by French Derby hero Almanzor who has already thrown a VRC Derby winner from his first crop. Interestingly, he was born on the same day of the year (10th November) as our Hall Of Famer, So You Think. His dam is an excellent producer, leaving two stakes horses. Much to look forward to with our successful union with John Thompson Racing.”
