Don’t Think Too Hard
An impressive son of legendary Group 1 sire So You Think from the Group 2-winning and stakes-producing Bernardini mare, Ruud Not Too (NZ). This colt shows the same athleticism as his sire and is primed to dominate on the track.
An outstanding Proisir half-sister to 2024 G1 VRC Oaks and G2 Wakeful Stakes runner-up Powers of Opal. By Champion Sire elect Proisir, from a stakes-winning/multiple Group 1 placegetter, this filly offers the ultimate package of genetic opportunity, athletic superiority and residual value.
Trained by John Sargent, Royal Randwick
An outstanding filly raised and sold by one of New Zealand’s most successful nurseries in Curraghmore Stud. Offered as Lot 335 at the NZB Karaka Yearling Sale, she is by former Champion New Zealand Sire Proisir from the esteemed stakes-winning and multiple Group 1 placegetter Strada Cavallo.
Her dam has left an immediate impact at stud, with three foals to race – all winners, including DGR/John Sargent-purchased and managed Powers of Opal, who has been a force to be reckoned with, winning over 1600m before being narrowly beaten by boom filly Treasurethe Moment in the 2024 G1 VRC Oaks and G2 Wakeful Stakes.
Proisir is a proven sire of some of the best Group 1-winning fillies seen in recent years, including Champions Levante, Legarto and Prowess.
Standing at a fee of $80,000 plus GST in 2024, Proisir is New Zealand’s second most expensive stallion, with the closest being 9-time Champion Sire Savabeel.
Dam Strada Cavallo was one of the gun fillies of her year. She was sharp enough to win over 1300 metres and had the versatility to contest some of New Zealand’s most competitive three-year-old mile, middle distance and staying tests.
Purchased for $700,000, this filly offers the ultimate package of genetic opportunity, athletic superiority and residual value.
It comes as no surprise that the John Sargent-trained filly’s ownership filled quickly, and she was fully subscribed before the day was over.

A stunning filly from the first crop of Champion 2YO Golden Slipper winner, Stay Inside. This filly’s pedigree is elevated by her dam, Helix Park, a half-sister to stakes winner Outdo and stakes-placed Miraculous Miss. She has lovely fluidity about her, an extraordinary brain, and she looks to be of a very trainable type.
An impressive colt from the second crop of So You Think’s fast Group-winning sprinter/miler Peltzer. He is the second foal from the 4-time-winning Dash For Cash mare Miss Entice who has already produced current season 3YO stakes performer Statuario. He, too, is by a sire son of So You Think in D’Argento, so we already know this cross works and he’s a colt with plenty of size and scope.
Duncan's Comments
“An outstanding filly with guaranteed residual value and plenty of upside. Snapped up on the day of purchase amid high demand, leaving some regulars regretting they missed out. Nothing more needs to be said.”
