This colt represents the best of American bloodlines, being a son of US Horse of the Year Justify, from the multiple 2YO winning Lonhro mare Childhood (USA). He is a promising classic style of colt and will be trained by entrusted DGR trainer John Sargent.
Trained by John Sargent, Randwick.
DGR’s Duncan Ramage and trainer John Sargent combined on day four of selling at the Magic Millions Yearling sale to purchase a colt by Triple Crown winner Justify from the imported Lonhro mare Childhood (USA).
Purchased for $280,000 from Coolmore Stud, this colt just oozed class and ticked all the boxes for Duncan.
A true Champion in his own right, Justify took out the highly esteemed American Triple Crown and made history when retiring to stud as the first Triple Crown winner to remain unbeaten.
He’s the Leading First Season Sire in Australia and his progeny include $2 million Inglis Millennium and G3 Widden Stakes winner Learning To Fly, plus first crop northern hemisphere Group 1 winner Arabian Lion.
From Justify’s northern and southern hemisphere crops, he has sired 11 individual stakes horses and boasts a phenomenal 8.4% stakes winners/runners strike rate.
This colt’s dam recorded back-to-back wins as a two-year-old and is from a family packed full of black-type performers. She is a half-sister to stakes winners Baby J, Laureate Conductor and Lavender Chrissie, plus stakes performers Gossamer Wings and Que Posse.
His damsire Lonhro is doing an excellent job as a broodmare sire with his daughters producing 58 individual stakes winners, including top-tier Group winners Gatting, Golden Mile, Osborne Bulls, So Si Bon etc.
Duncan and John Sargent have enjoyed immense success together, with the most recent Group winner being 2022 G3 Carbine Club Stakes winner Perfect Thought who was purchased through this very sale.
Ownership opportunities are available to race this colt with the winning combination of DGR and John Sargent.

Duncan's Comments
“Justify is 'justifying' his wraps in the USA as a Horse of the Year and is now a leading first-crop sire with some interesting 2yo’s down under. This colt is a lovely bay classic style of horse out a Lonhro mare who was a fast multiple 2yo winner herself in Ireland and from a family that has already produced multiple stakes winners with the prematurely deceased sire Scat Daddy. A lot to like in this package.”
