When it comes to hedging bets on first season sires, Exceed and Excel stallion Exceedance was ‘the one’ for DGR’s Duncan Ramage.
The winner of Australia’s premier stallion making race, the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, Exceedance has lived up to his exceptional race record with a stellar debut lineup of yearlings.
Duncan and trainer Chris Anderson were both in agreement when they first sighted Lot 283 at Inglis Classic, a son of Exceedance and the talented 5-time winner Blazing Dragon.
Purchased for $120,000 from one of the southern hemisphere’s best nurseries in Vinery Stud, he ticked all the boxes and passed DGR’s rigorous pre-purchase checks with flying colours.
Duncan knows the family well, having bred and raced this colt’s multiple city-winning dam. She’s made a great start at stud from limited opportunities, producing Blazing Zone, a 5-time winner (including 3 in succession).
He’s a classy individual with a ground-covering walk and is very much in the make and shape of his ultra-fast sire.
Ownership opportunities are available to race him with the winning DGR and Chris Anderson Racing team.

Duncan's Comments
“Mindful of making a point to buy a first crop yearling by Exceedance, we have found one in this son of Blazing Dragon. I know the family well, having bred and raced his very tough multiple-city-winning dam. She has already produced a 5-time winner by a second-tier sire, so she has a distinct upgrade in Exceedance. He is a classy individual going into the Eagle Farm stable of Chris Anderson.”
