Inglis Classic Lot 245 Dundeel – Laissez Faire (Flying Spur) Colt
Purchased for A$150,000 from Arrowfield Stud
To be trained by Anthony Cummings, Randwick

DGR Thoroughbred Services’ Duncan Ramage struck on day one of selling at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale to secure Lot 245, an athletic colt by leading young sire Dundeel.

Like DGR’s leading Derby contender Profit (also by Dundeel), this colt was born and raised at iconic thoroughbred nursery Arrowfield Stud He is bred and built to be the perfect Classic and Derby contender and is expected to follow in the footsteps of this exciting three-year-old.

Acclaimed as the Classic and weight-for-age star of his generation, this colt’s sire Dundeel is now forging an equally spectacular career at stud. From just three racing crops, he has already sired four individual Group One winners, including; record-breaking G1 ATC Champagne Stakes winner Castelvecchio, G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Super Seth, two-time Group One-winning two-year-old Yourdeel and G1 Kenilworth Cape Derby winner Atyaab.

Three-year-old colts Castelvecchio and Super Seth have also been secured by world-class studs Arrowfield Stud and Waikato Stud (respectively) and will no doubt go on to forge successful careers as sires.

This eye-catching colt is out of the Flying Spur mare Laissez Faire. She has had two to the races for two winners, and her third foal is a two-year-old by Real Impact that trainer Joe Pride has a high opinion of.

Laissez Faire herself is exceptionally well-related being a three-quarter sister to stakes winner Lunaspur – also the dam of Group winners Colorado Claire and Moonovermanhattan. There is plenty of speed found throughout this colt’s pedigree with Group One winning sprinter in Hong Kong Lucky Bubbles featuring in his third dam.

Declared by Arrowfield’s yearling manager Steve Irwin as “the pick of the colts”, his appeal was further heightened by the fact he is out of a Flying Spur mare. Arrowfield’s late sire Flying Spur has cemented himself as one of the finest broodmare sires seen in recent years. He features as the damsire of many greats, including Group One winners Pierata, Nakeeta Jane, Brooker, Shillelagh, Preferment, Speak Fondly and Headway.

Duncan has a long history of proven success buying horse that have gone on to win Classics, Derbies and Cups. Group One winners Saintly, Viewed, Dariana, Faint Perfume, God’s Own, Roman Emperor, Wonderful World, Fine Society (plus so many more) all attest to this fact.

An excellent partnership is forming fast to race this colt so don’t delay to secure your piece. The current ownership group includes various owners who between them, have won the likes of the Golden Slipper, Melbourne Cup, VRC Oaks and QLD Derby.
